Why I Hate Color Printers

It really doesn't make sense to print your own images these days because the cost of your ink and photographic paper is so high.  Not to mention the time you'll take to process and print each image.

Have you noticed that printers are so inexpensive these days?  You can get a full color printer for $100.  Yep, but that's where the fun ends. The ink will cost you about $30.00 a shot.

Worst yet you'll notice that the ink printers have this routine called "self cleaning" and "priming".   This basically equates to throwing away your very expensive ink that seems to run out at the worst time.

Another issue I have with color printers is that some won't print black even though you may have a full cartridge.  You need to have the color ink replaced before it will print again.

The Best Way To Printer Your Color Images

Again, don't waste your time and money doing your image printing at home.  Instead you'll first want to download a cool program for organizing your images on your computer.  I recommend Picasa II and it can be downloaded for free at www.picasa.com

Picasa is so cool because it will automatically scan your computer and put all your images in one place to view, process and send to the printers.  Yep, you can send them to the printer right from your desktop.  We send ours to Wal-Mart for $.15 a copy of 4 x 6. There are also options to have them mailed to you.  Picasa support a number of printer houses right through its program interface.   Picasa will also make web page galleries of your images, CDs, Screen Savers, Collages, and they'll give you 1 GiG of web space to upload your images to and share with friends and family.  Now that is coooool.  Go and check it out..
